Betty's Blues is a jazz and blues based duo, comprising 'Boogie' Bill Roberts on piano and the vocal talents of Liz 'The Biz' Jackson. And two kazoos. It was born in autumn 1993 out of friendship, mutual musical respect and pure serendipity. The pair subsequently had a very busy and successful 5 year stint, taking in many of the best (and worst) venues in the North West, with occasional mini tours of other bizarre locations. In the years proceeding 1998, Liz moved away from the North West to pursue a degree course in Cornwall, and never came back. If you saw where she lived you would see why not. The pair managed to go from living merely doors away from each other to 400 miles apart. Of course the show must go on, and so it does . . just not quite as often. Whilst notwithstanding Liz and Bill's musical talents, it is probably fair to say that many BB fans are as much attracted by the warmth, humour and general unpredictable behaviour that epitomizes a Betty's Blues gig. Betty's Blues summed up in a nutshell? They take the music seriously, but not themselves.
